I don't think it's right Sylvia - there is a death for Mary Simpson in Church Hulme in 1847 but she is under 1 year old according to cheshirebmd,

A Public Family tree on ancestry has a death for Mary Simpson in 1847 ................. if true, that could explain why George was living with his grandparents in 1851.

You need to search freebmd to see if you can find a death ........ the tree has no documentation to prove what it says is accurate.

This could be his parents marriage??

I see Sylvia has already found this ;-) The Cheshirebmd site gives parishes though.

and here is what looks to be a Simpson / Baskerville marriage

Marriages Sep 1840 (>99%)

BASKE_ILE Mary Congleton 19 95
SIMPSON Joseph Congleton 19 95

Joseph, Mary and Elizabeth, age 2 months are actually living next to george and Martha on the 1841 Census

Name: Joseph Simpson
Age: 25
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1816
Gender: Male
Where born: Cheshire, England
Civil Parish: Sandbach
Hundred: Northwich
County/Island: Cheshire
Country: England

Registration district: Congleton
Sub-registration district: Church Hulme

Piece: 122
Book: 5
Folio: 3
Page Number: 19

Joseph Simpson 25
Mary Simpson 20 b.ca 1821, Cheshire
Elizabeth Simpson 9 Mo b.ca 1840, Cheshire
Richard Hazlehurst 35 b.ca 1806, Cheshire

Ages of people over the age of 15 were rounded down to the nearest 5 on the 1841 census ............... so they appear to be up to 4 years younger than they really were

Thus Joseph could have been born any time between 1812 and 1816, and Mary any time between 1817 and 1821

Joseph and Mary look to be good candidates for George Simpson's parents

Can I just add that the census says he is the grandson of George Basturvile.

There is an assumption made on that record from ancestry that his Father is William Basturvile, just because of the way that the census is recorded with William (son) and then George (grandson)

Nowhere does it state that William is his Father.

The usual reason for not finding someone in a census is putting in too much information!!

Could somebody please help?

I have been trying to find George Simpson b 1843 Church Hulme
on the 1851 Census without much luck. I do see him on later
censuses with birth as 1844 and living in Northwich, Cheshire
He was married to Mary Jane Ravenscroft, seen on the 1881 census
my grandfather David b1878 is also on the census.

I would appreciate any info... Regards Pom
