maybe HE lied about his age on his marriage, as his wife was so much younger than him :-)

they have the age of charles elley in his marriage as 27yrs he was born in 1815 how can they get age so wrong still searching for his death 1871 census mary ann states widow perhaps he was not dead thanks for your help

The above marriage has Charles as a soldier, 28th Reg of Foot. his father, John is a carpenter. Her father was a blacksmith. William Johnston and John Symond were witnesses.
So the discharge record is correct.
