You can only find their deaths registered not their certs. You should find their births to get that year correct before looking for the death, they look like 1902 and 1903 so look from 1901 - 1904

Remember Walter was born in Sutton at a guess Sutton in Ashfield which is Mansfield area, John was born in Langwith which is difficult as the area although in Derbyshire the nearest registration area may be Mansfield not Chesterfield.

Good luck, come back if you have a problem. :-)

how can i find her children John cutts and Walter Cutts death certificates. is it bmds ?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 27 Jan 2015 20:47

if you buy her death certificate it may tell you if she died in childbirth

It will not tell you is the child was stillborn or alive

It probably will not tell you she died in childbirth if she died a week or a month after a stillborn baby was delivered, or a miscarriage happened.

but you will only know if you order her death certificate

There are several examples of no name but male or female then the surname and the area in the death registers but not on this occasion.

still births were not registered in England until 1927 .................

and even then, the stillbirth register was closed to public view

Only close relatives (parents, and siblings if parents are dead) can obtain a death certificate for a stillbirth.

A stillbirth was usually not registered as a death ...................... the child never lived.

The baby would not be seen on a census, the last 1 available is 1911 and Sarah died later that year.

Yes it would if it was born. A still birth should be registered but I do know that even a baby who lived a short time may not be registered.

In my own family about 1913-14 a boy was born, I know his name from his siblings, he only lived a few days, he died of meningitis, there is no birth/death registered. My sister couldn't find a burial either. When she queried this at the museum where they kept all the documents she was told that for poor families this was not unusual. For a few pence a grave digger would place the baby in a grave and a coffin would go on top. The important thing was the child was in consecrated soil.
