Hi Jacqueline,
We think and could be totally wrong, that this is when Mary may have died and this is only info given to me by my mother in law,we know Mary lived in Gosport but she has had a bit of a challenge trying to find her, and because she was told that there appears to be know record, it has left her frustrated and so i am trying to help get a trace and it is possible i have found her but would need to confirm.
Hope this helps.
Yours in success,
Glenn.

If Cemetery records have told you Charles was buried in 1962 aged 82, then can they not tell you when Mary Jenkins was buried and at what age? Death records can then be searched more accurately for an appropriate death. Even if she lived in Gosport at the time of her death, it is not necessarily where she died e.g.. she may have been in a Portsmouth hospital, visiting friends/family elsewhere, on holiday etc. but her body brought back home for burial.

You said on page that Charles was her 1st husband so if she remarried surely her death would be in another surname ????

She may not have died in gosport but say somewhere like Southampton where there is a big hospital

My grandfather died in Hendon Middlesex because he was transferred to a heart hospital from the local hospital in SE London

His death was reg in Middlesex and he was brought home to be buried in the local council cemetery

The cemetery records will show the details of who the Mary Jenkins is buried near him . May not be connected because if he is in a public grave you can't pick where that will be in the cemetery for the burial

You have what seems to be incorrect info about her birth

Until you get accurate birth year info, you can't search for her death.

The marriage cert would seem essential

Presumably, your MIL is her daughter.................so she should know whether or not her mother re-married

Or is there some reason why she would not?

Unmarked isn't necessarily public...........just no headstone

My inlaws are together in a private grave...........no headstone

Dear friends,
Looks like Mary died in Knowle Hospital on October 21,1936, and she was brought back to Gosport and laid to rest at Annes Hill Cemetery ,she was 59 years old and was the wife of Charles Jenkins who is alleged to have remarried some time later
We have sent for death certificate and hope that she is the right one.
I will keep you informed of progress.
Thankyou for your kind help and support.
Yours in success,
Glenn

Knowle hospital, near to Fareham and Wickham, is not so very far away from Gosport and would have provided facilities otherwise only available at St James hospital in Portsmouth at the time. Like a lot of old hospital buildings and grounds they are now incorporated into a "village" with apartments in old buildings and new houses having also been built. The hospital can be googled for further information. It's in a lovely setting, the church still there but now a community centre.

This would be the death registration I expect (Droxford RD covers Wickham)
