Is the photo still available I know it is a long shot but I have only just discovered this thread. Lavenham Boby are my direct ancestors?

Good idea Dea. The local paper is the Suffolk Free Press. They do have a page with articles from 25 years ago and 50 years ago and I have occasionally seen photos with headings of "Can you name these people?". Contact details are:

Suffolk Free Press
Borehamgate
Sudbury
Suffolk CO10 2EE

Tel. 01787 886911
Email: editor@suffolkfreepress

Poor Mr Magoo. I bet he is wishing now that he had never found that picture :-D

EDIT Corrected phone number

My local weekly newspaper has a 2 page section every week where they print articles 'from the past' and photo's - often asking if anyone can name any of the people in them or tell anything about the event.

Might Lavenham have anything similar ?

Thank you for your reply SV.

I have sent a copy to SRO and got an automated thanks reply.
I guess that's all I will get.

Hi Mr Magoo......I have now heard back from my cousin-a-few-times-removed. She says thank you very much for the kind offer but she is confident that the Mrs Lambert in the picture isn't one of her Lamberts. Apparently her Lamberts left Lavenham in the 1870s and never returned again. It's not an uncommon name in the area.

If you want to go with mgnv's suggestion of seeing if the Record Office are interested I would approach the Bury St Edmunds office as that is the one that covers Lavenham and I am sure that Lowestoft would direct you there anyway. The Bury phone number is 01284 741212 or email [email protected].

I hope you find a taker for your picture.

You could contact the Suffolk records office and ask them if they're interested in having the picture.

http://www.suffolk.gov.uk/libraries-and-culture/culture-and-heritage/suffolk-record-office/contact-suffolk-record-office/ says:
If you have any queries please contact, in the first instance [email protected] who will ensure that your enquiry is dealt with by the appropriate branch or person.

Through our joint interest in family history I am in contact with a group of distant cousins. One of these was researching her husband's family and I am fairly sure it included at least one Lambert born in Lavenham. The reason I am so sure is that I don't live too far from Lavenham and some years ago I had a look round the village church etc. for evidence of her OH's rellies and I am sure it was the Lambert name I was looking for..

Is it OK if I email her and tell her about your photo?

Have you tried looking for connections on here............in search trees?

It's unlikely that anyone connected will come across your post.....

Lavenham is a beautiful place :-)

Friends took us there in 2008

Unfortunately, we don't have any relations or friends there .......... I'd love to inherit one of the houses :-D
