I'm confused.
The only William we have discovered so far in 1911 is Solomon's son - census posted above by Mike and Alviegal. (Apart from the wrong one I posted earlier.)

Have you found Susannah's son in 1911?

Which William are you now wanting to trace - son of Solomon or son of Solomon's sister Susannah?

So the father of Gerard 1908 (who is in Marlene's tree) and shown on here in 1911 is being discounted completely?

How very inconsiderate of Solomon and Susannah to both name their sons William especially when they were born the same year and place! Did they not know that they were creating problems for future generations trying to compile family trees!! :-D :-D :-D

Yes, Jacqueline, I think it is Susannah's illegitimate child we're looking for, as per the 1891 and 1901 I posted (2nd and 3rd posts on page 1).

The confusion in the opening post was because Marlene thought Solomon was Susannah's father.

There are three William Darbyshires born Wigan c 1887 - William Gregson 1887; Solomon's son 1887, and also this one in 1886:

I think Marlene should buy William Gregson's birth cert to make sure of his mother's name.
That birth could be for this person below - he's NOT the Wiliam Gregson in 1911 as posted by Jacqueline.
There must have been two William Gregson Darbyshires, born 1887 in Wigan district.

I like Mike's suggestion of William having died.

We know he was with mother Susannah in 1891 and 1901 so couldn't be the William Gregson posted above in those same censuses.

I must apologise for getting Susannah and Solomon Mixed up .
I will tell you what I know and hope that I will not get it mixed up.
Susannah had William in 1887 she was unmarried.
Solomon's son William born 1887 married Henrietta Jones in 1913.
Honestly that's all I know about Susannah's son.

No, exactly, Mike - so Susannah's son could be "Jacqueline's" William Gregson in 1911, although the birth record isn't necessarily the same WG.

but I'm inclined to agree with you that Susannah's son is the one who died.

However, unless the William Gregson birth record turns out to be his, we still haven't found William's birth.
