firstly Chris Ho, yes that's them that you have found.
Marie Celeste, you probably have solved the query on districts etc.,
Agree with you Hey Jude its finding out when Smethwick under Kings Norton and if that was in Worcestershire or Warwickshire/sstaffordshire etc.,
Andysmum, yes I had the same problem when I started doing my tree line of Rowleys I haven't come across any in Bridgnorth though. I think my Rowleys possibly originated from Stoke on Trent area but still to investigate on that.
thanks to everyone.

I have loads of relatives from King's Norton, Aston and Stourport and the GRO can be anything from Worcestershire to Shropshire...it's not easy!

Although I can't help with your particular query, I just wanted to say that my great grandmother Jane was also a Rowley, with brothers John and Edward/Edwin. They came from the Bridgnorth area of Shropshire and I have had trouble sorting them out because they use the same names all the time!

There seem to have been Rowleys in every village in Shropshire at the time!!

Unfortunately, nothing in on-line newspapers for the 1926 death. No probate either.

I certainly wouldn't be precluding that death - the middle initial matches. The death is registered in Worcester registration district, not necessarily the town of Worcester. That registration district may cover an area not too far from where they were in 1911 (also classed as Worcester then).

As regards electoral rolls, although Ancestry claim to have Midlands electoral rolls they in fact only appear to cover Birmingham. FindMyPast have none for the area. So I'd guess a library local to the area would be the answer (although buying that death cert is probably easier).

Brummie46 - you say you're shocked at 7 children, 6 living - what children did you have for them?

brummie46 Report 24 Sep 2015 08:38

Hi CHris;Ho thanks to what you sent but still baffled where they lived after 1911 census given. But still wondering if electoral would show anything after this year as to actually the address of them.Quite shocked about 7 children and 6 still living will have to research on that one I must have missed something.
Apologies to Margee (2013)
thanks much appreciated

brummie46 - why not give us details of the potential deaths you have found and we can then perhaps investigate them further (e.g. newspapers)

brummie46 Report 23 Sep 2015 18:28

thanks AustinQ yes I did know that Smethwick came under Kings Norton and I think that changed about 1912 approx.
Im still unsure as to where my gr grandparents are buried if it is actually Worcester I suppose I should therefore send for death certificates to see who registered the deaths and any links to that. I was just wondering if the electoral roll would show up anything between 1919 to 1926.
thanks once again

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 23 Sep 2015 17:16

Although the 1911 census gives address as Smethwick the registration district at that time was Kings Norton (Worcestershire). Unfortunately it is confusing as the registration districts within Staffordshire/ Warwickshire/ Worcestershire went through many changes. You may find more information here:

thanks to all that provided certain information but was wondering if anyone could check electoral roll to find out where this couple was between 1919 - 1926 perhaps it might throw more light onto the subject.
thank you

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 19 Sep 2015 17:21

I am just saying that prior to 1932, Smethwick was West Bromwich. So if they died in Smethwick it would be West Bromwich. And if you can't find it in West Bromwich, then they didn't die in Smethwick.

So if you are not finding anything in West Bromwich, then they didn't die in Smethwick. So if for example you are finding a death in Worcester, then that means they moved

brummie46 Report 19 Sep 2015 16:42

Hi Jude, thank you for your info but I definitely think that West Bromwich doesn't come into it. For all through previously searches West Bromwich as never come into connection with Smethwick except for after 1966 when a number of boroughs amalgamated.

Brummie46

Info about Smethwick

SMETHWICK REGISTRATION DISTRICT

Registration County : Staffordshire.
Created : 1.10.1932 (out of West Bromwich registration district).
Abolished : 1.4.1966 (to become part of Warley East, West Bromwich, and Birmingham registration districts).

So I would be looking at West Bromwich prior to 1932

Ann of Cardiff, thank you for what you have sent me through regarding the census's but I already have this information. Original request was to find out regarding my gr grandparents (john 1853c and Martha 1855c) as where they were living approx. between 1912 and 1927 for they both passed away between 1919-1926. I believe they were still in Smethwick on 1911 census so would like to know where they were from 1911 until their deaths.
thanking you
