No reason why it couldn't be the same person - Mary could have died, and then he married Martha, who may not necessarily be a sister.

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 24 Oct 2015 20:08

If you note the baptism of James William- it gives mother as Susannah Ann- so, it is either the wrong James Young, or James senior married again (after the birth of James)?

G83

G83 Report 24 Oct 2015 19:28

id of really thought the marriage of james seniors parents jame and mary would of been before his birth to be honest i have mary as being from devonshire im very confused :-S

G83

G83 Report 24 Oct 2015 19:22

Ah so the marriage with Mary ann hendry is actually the parents of james jnr however the wedding is after james's birth?

G83

AustinQ

there is definitely something odd! James married a Hendry, but it looks as thought his Mum was a Hendry going by that 1851?? :-S

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 24 Oct 2015 18:21

Mary Ann in the 1851 census which I posted, was born in Watton, Norfolk - not Devon.

It does look like the right family, though, as there are Hendry's in the same household. (brother-in-law and sister-in-law).

James senior isn't on the record, but seems to be assumed to be the head of the household, as none of the rest of them are "Head". Mary Ann is "wife".

EDIT:
Or am I getting the generations mixed up ? I'm confused!

G83

G83 Report 24 Oct 2015 18:17
