yes i noticed records for Childs rather than child, so have not followed these - may be the same person or irregularities in written records

Wow.
1881 census looks good. Edward boarding with Mary Wyles. i found a wedding record of a An Edward Child marrying a Mary Wyles in 1881 so his wife in 1891 census was probably Mary Wyles.

I wonder if someone may be able to add a liitle background to this man and his wife.
He appears in 1891 census as a Baker aged 36 with wife Mary b 1853 from Coventry with 4 children and 3 other residents. i would like to obtain some links from him to try and trace any living relative.
