so both Betty and Alfred had fathers called John, born at around the same time

I'm not sure how we would separate the John Holgates born between say 1805 and 1809!

It's possible that the two fathers were cousins

Alfred said his father was Constable on his marriage to Betty Driver, but I ahve not a John, Constable on a census. The only Johns with son Alfred that I've found says he is a Painter.


I think this is Alfred with his parents in 1841 .....
