so it's a sure thing for Agnes and the info at familyseach should help

I would try writing to Agnes's husband and children there.

Helen is iffy ... she could even still be living if she was born around when Agnes was, or some years later.

The deaths JC has posted, with DOB's, match with these birth records:

1933 O'HARA AGNES LAIDLAW F RUTHERGLEN GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 654/00 0253

1917 O'HARA HELEN F AIRDRIE OR NEW MONKLAND /LANARK 651/00 0257

Not sure about the 1917 for Helen, but 1933 is definitely correct for Agnes.

I see what Alicia meant by the "Laidlaw" - it's a middle name.

I stand corrected on Ghioni!

An Agnes L Ghioni with husband Vincent had a telephone listing in Boston shown here to 2009

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QJCX-Z9YS

(I am not copying it as she might be living)

>> checking at whitepages.com shows the same info as in that record, so it would appear to be still be valid for her husband ... the address and telephone number are there

but sadly no, she is deceased:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KM8L-GLZ

Agnes Ghioni
United States Social Security Death Index
Age 78
Given Name Agnes
Surname Ghioni
Birth Date 09 Jun 1933
State Massachusetts
Event Date 29 Dec 2011

click the first link above and you will see what are probably names of children (or child and spouse)

JoonieCloonie

really confusing

three sisters all surname O'Hara?

Margaret your grandmother
Helen who married Guerin (but where does the Laidlaw come from?)
Agnes who married Vinnie Ghioni

Guerin is a French-Canadian surname, and there are many French-Canadian names in Massachusetts

Vinnie Ghioni seems to be Italian, Vincente ... ? Spelling would not be Ghioni

As ArgyllGran says, an idea of when the sisters were born is the first important piece of info.

if Helen and Agnes were at least as old as Margaret (who married in 1947?) they may be deceased and so records of their deaths might be the one thing that could be found.

for example there are these death records for the name Helen Guerin in Massachusetts

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VS8H-73X

Age 66
Given Name Helen
Middle Name L
Surname Guerin
> Birth Date 08 Aug 1924
State Massachusetts
Event Date 03 Jan 1990

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VZYP-3MX

Name Helen L Guerin
Event Type Death
Event Date 07 Dec 2001
Event Place Westfield, Massachusetts
Certificate Number 058615
> Birth Date 06 Feb 1917
Birthplace Massachusetts
Spouse's Name Raymond R Guerin

(that one is ruled out, she was born in Mass and is in the 1940 census with husband Raymond)

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JTLT-NJ8

Age 93
Given Name Helen
Middle Name H
Surname Guerin
> Birth Date 29 Aug 1917
State Massachusetts
Last Place of Residence Adams, Berkshire, Massachusetts
Previous Residence Postal Code 01220
Event Date 13 Dec 2010

if you know the sisters' birthdates and/or middle names it would help enormously.

If your surname is your maiden name, then it looks as if your grandmother Margaret married your grandfather (Bernard ??) in 1947 in Rutherglen, which gives us some sort of idea re time-scale.

If that's the case, then this could perhaps be Agnes travelling to Boston in 1954 and 1955 - but Agnes Ohara isn't exactly an uncommon name, so maybe it's someone else:

Agnes L Ohara
in the New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
Name: Agnes L Ohara
Arrival Date: 11 Jun 1955
Gender: Female
Port of Departure: Prestwick, Scotland
Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts
Airline: British Overseas Airways Corporation

Agnes O'Hara
in the Massachusetts, Passenger and Crew Lists, 1820-1963
Name: Agnes O'Hara
Gender: Female
Port of Departure: Prestwick, Scotland
Airline: British Overseas Airways Corporation
Flight Number: BA 521/184
Arrival Date: 10 Aug 1954
Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts

Unfortunately, it may be too recent for there to be any records available online for Agnes and Helen in the USA.

Welcome to the boards, Alicia.

Can you give us some idea of date? How old might they be now?
What were their parents' names?

Or any idea of roughly when Helen and Agnes emigrated?

Is Laidlaw Helen's birth surname (perhaps she is/was a half-sister of Agnes and Margaret)? Or is it a husband's name?

Scotlands People does not show a marriage for a Helen O'Hara to a Laidlaw.
Nor is there any sign of such a marriage in England/Wales per freebmd.

These ladies are my dads aunts, they were born in Glasgow, they have another sister Margaret ohara(my dads mum) Helen emigrated to Boston and married unsure of her husbands first name surname is guerin( not sure if this is correct spelling). Agnes emigrated a few years later to Boston and married a Vinnie Ghioni not sure if this is correct spelling.

Any help to find out any information would be great

Thanks :-)
