Hi the problem I have is THEIR PARENTS William Gore born c 1816 Liverpool and Mary Knight born c1 821 Carlisle. His father was Edward Gore a Printer and her's a Robert Lennox Knight Wool Merchant..I cannot find anything on either of these men at all...NOR William's or Mary's baptisms..I did find a marriage in Liverpool for Edward Gore to Isabella Hossack 1813 he was a Printer..she was a widow after this nothing....

Any help appreciated

The first ever printed directory of Liverpool was published in 1766 by John Gore (1738-1803), "Containing an alphabetical list of the merchants, tradesmen and principal inhabitants of the town of Liverpool

On Wednesday last, after a long illness, with exemplary patience and resignation, Mr. John Gore, many years proprietor and publisher of the Liverpool General Advertiser. He was universally esteemed and beloved for the uniform integrity of his character, and the liability, candour and benevolence, which constantly appeared in his conduct. His death is most deeply regretted by a large circle of domestic connections, and general acquaintance.

Hi Chris & Dea I have the original MARRIAGE It says Printer regarding Isabella Bolton then Hossack then Gore I cannot find the son Robert Hossack born 1806.

Neither can I Colette - he seems to have disappeared into the ether !!!

As his mother remarried when he was very young, I wonder if he took on the surname 'Gore' ??

I thought That too..I have checked what burials in Liverpool I can and nothing..as for William god only knows were he was born I cannot find him in 1841 nor Mary his wife nor their son Edward born 1840.
