Do you have the marriage certificate? Who does he list as his father? What age was he?

Perhaps Bert was more of a stage name. Could be Albert, Bertram, Bertie, Herbert, Hubert, Robert etc.

AustinQ Report 14 Dec 2016 16:14

Think you'll need the details from the certificate.

Chelmsford Chronicle - Friday 06 August 1897

...'The Wolf' and Pinsuti's 'Bedouin Love Song', his splendid bass voice showing to great advantage and seciring for the last mentioned song an encore which was not to be denied. Mr Bert Attwell was similarly rewarded for his song 'Look in mine Eyes' from La Cigale. Madame Florence Reynolds, a sister of the promoter of the concert, gave two songs in good style, joined Mr Attwell in two duets and Miss Ella Armstrong, Messrs Attwell and Gladney Wolf in two quartets......

I have to work this morning- but just received message from Terence re the marriage certificate of Bert & Mary:

"Just receved marriage certificate his fathers name was james attwell and his profession was a book maker and berts profession is an artiste theatrical"

-------------------------------------

It might help if you can fill in the other details Terence:

How old was Bert on the certificate?

Who were the witnesses?

What address is given for Bert?
