Previous thread:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1317375

(a lot of work went in to this thread and it makes for interesting reading but it may not help much with this query).

In brief:

Charles George Anderson first appears on his son's birth certificate in 1886. He and his wife Harriet had many children but did not marry until 1903. His marriage certificate names his father as Charles George Anderson, Travelling Hawker.

Further records are:
1886 living Smarts Lane Loughton/
1891 census York Hill, Loughton, Essex age 27 (1864) b Bittle near Chenford/
1901 living at 2 Albert Road North, Buckhurst Hill. B Prittle 1862/
1903 marriage (cert Epping vol 4a pg 415) Aged 40/
1903 living 2 Albert Road North Buckhurst Hill/
1906 2 Albert Road North/
1909 2 Albert Road North/
1911 living 10 Kings Place, Buckhurst Hill (General Labourer) born Writtle, Essex/
1935 Death Epping Q1 4A 379 age 74 cause of death carcinoma of the stomach/

This is where I thought my story would end. However.....

There is a record of a Charles Anderson living at Standard Yard (Chelmsford Chronicle20/03/1885).

In the 1881 census there is a Charles MILLS living at 1 Standard Yard. This Charles was born 1864, Writtle. (NOTE: in 1901 the census has Charles ANDERSON as born 1864, Prittle...mistranscribed?). Father is Charles Mills, mother Sarah.

In 1863 there was a Charles MILLS born Q2 Chelmsford (4A 178). (the 1891 census has Charles Anderson as being born in Bittle, near Chenford?).

Going back to 1861 there is a census record which shows a Charles and Sarah Anderson living in a Tent, Tye Green, Elsenham, Bishop Stortford, Hertfordshire. He is a brick layer, she is a hawker. They also have a daughter, Susan Ann Anderson born 1861, however there are records for a Susan Ann MILLS born Q4 1860 in Hitchin, Herts. She was baptised in Stevenage on 6th Jan 1861, parents Charles and Sarah MILLS.

Can anyone help me prove the (rather tenuous) link between Charles MILLS and Charles ANDERSON? Are they one and the same?
