Member Since: March 2005 Posts: 899 Send Message	I'm trying to find James Leach and Maria Leach in the 1939 Register but not finding either. In 1911 census they were living in Chancel Street, Liverpool. They both died in 1941, James in April and Maria in May. James died at 241 Westminster Road, Liverpool. Maria died at the home of her eldest daughter, 139 Scholes Lane, St. Helens, but she wasn't there in 1939. Thanks.

	Yes ............ Kirkdale Homes at 241 Westminster Road was a home for the aged and inform. The address alone was often used on death certificates to hide the fact that someone had died in such a home. However, I cannot find James there in 1939. You may wish to search the register page by page. Just leave name boxes blank Put in Liverpool and hit enter Then when you get to the next page, click Search, and ther eis a box where you can put a street address.

Member Since: March 2005 Posts: 899 Send Message	Yes, you have the correct James and Maria. James was born abt. 1865/66 - never been able to find his birth, and Maria was born in 1867. On James' death certificate it gives 241 Westminster Road as place of death. I Googled it and it said it was some kind of home. On the 1939 Register I searched by address but his name doesn't appear.

	I note that one of James and maria's children on the 1911 has Muirhead as a middle name ............. therefore the marriage that safc has posted seems very likely.

	May be they just forgot to register his birth?? That did happen. There are several family trees on ancestyr which have James, and one of them has this under Birth Lewis Family Tree Birth 25 Jul 1865 • Liverpool, Lancashire, England Date of birth found in Joseph Henry Leach's bible The owner of this tree has photographs of James, Maria, and their children Martha Jane, Samuel, Albert Edward and Ida

Member Since: March 2005 Posts: 899 Send Message	Thanks for all the info. Sorry I'm so late getting back, been out all day. James was married to Maria Muirhead and all the above info is correct. I have been in touch with the owner of the Lewis Family Tree a while back and we have exchanged info - photos of James, Maria, etc., were provided by me. What I can't get my head around is why I can't find Jame's birth in findmypast. There are birth references for all his siblings but not him. Thanks.

	Yvonne His birth is not on Freebmd, nor on the new GRO Index (which also has the mmn), nor on Ancestry The first place to look is Freebmd and then the GRO Index as they are the official Register Indexes. FMP and Ancestry have just taken (or later transcribed) the Freebmd Index. That is why I am saying that they did not register him at all!
