Hi
Does anyone have access to Channel Islands Death records? We have a Wilfred Horn born 1923 in St Annes Alderney. We know everything about the Horn Family and his family past and present. The family moved to Guernsey and we believe Wilfred died in an accident while collecting gulls eggs at the age of 13/14 in about 1936/37.
Can anyone help please.

Is it worth writing to Samare Manor (Victorian gardens visitor place), grande route de st. Clements, on jersey?? There is a similar death memorialised in a tower there, but I don't remember the boys name or date of accident. I'm sure it was fairly common for such a dangerous occupation,
Hope you find the answer. G

You could try this site:

http://www.priaulxlibrary.co.uk/collections/family-history

The Priaulx Library is Guernsey’s foremost centre for family history and genealogical research and holds research files for hundreds of local families. You'll be surprised at what you can find!

The Priaulx Library's extensive paper and microfilm records can be browsed at the Library free of charge or visitors and overseas researchers can make use of the library's paid research services.

The library's records include:

Civil and parish microfilm records
Selected Alderney records
Census returns for Guernsey and Jersey, 1841-1901
Local newspapers from 1791 to the present day
Almanacs and trade directories
Army lists
Elizabeth College registers
Prints, portraits and photographs
Family research files. A full list of the family names already researched can be found here

A full list of all the Library holdings can be found in our catalogue.

Search the catalogue
Other Collections

Maps, Prints & Drawings
Newspapers
Photographs
English, French & German Nineteenth-Century Literature
Occult, Witchcraft & Folklore
Rare Books
General & Military History
Channel Islands

They would appear to hold old newspapers there which may contain details of the event.

You can contact a Librarian via the site who might be willing to do a look-up for you - It does look as though they may charge a fee for this service.

Jersey would not have a memorial for a boy dying on Guernsey.

Dawn needs someone on Guernsey to check out the local paper.

Edit: this crossed with Dea's post.
