Can anyone please help me with a death for Thomas John Trevett (sometimes known as Jack). Here is what I have so far:

born 07.02.1876 (birth cert Woolwich vol 1d pg 1065 Q1)
Married ElizaEllen Hollis (marriage cert 1897 vol 1a pg 908 Q2)

1881 census living 43 King Street Woolwich
1891 census living Watsons Wharf, South Woolwich
1897 living 27 Sussex street
1900 living 22 Thomas Street Woolwich
1901 census living 26 Ann Street Woolwich/Plumstead
1909 living 21 Caletock Street Greenwich
1911 Living 26 Glenforth Street Greenwich (Coal/Ash man)
1912 living 17 Orlop Street Greenwich

His wife remarried in 1922 so I am presuming that he died between 1912 and 1922, possibly during WW1?

Any help would be gratefully received. :-)

Try freebmd too if he didn't die in the war

Does his wife's new marriage have her as widow

I was just looking at the workhouse records. I hadn't seen them before but it had been mentioned that the family had spent time in the workhouse and that some of the children ended up in orphanages.

Shirley, yes she is down as a widow however I have come to learn that people did not always tell the truth :-S

There was obviously some sort of marriage break-up during 1907 .... she is noted as being at a different address on that 21 May 1907 admission. Plus he has the children with him

I can't see him on the military records on ancestry ........ but only about 30-40% of the WW1 records survive, so that doesn't mean too much.

Sylvia: Thank you for pointing out the different address. I had overlooked that. The break up obviously didn't last too long as they went on to have several more children.

Maylon: Thank you for the information you have found, however Frederick is still alive in 1911 so the death in 1905 cannot be him. The census record is correct and at that time they are living in Glenforth Street.

The naturalisation record that malyon has posted is for Thomas Trevitt of 184, Parker Street, S Manchester, Conn.

There are several entries in different years in the City Directories for Thomas C Trevitt, with a very similar address:

possibly this man:

I would think it unlikely that he emigrated however anything is possible. However as he is Thomas John Trevett I should think that the records do not belong to him.

I have tried looking for records on the CWGC, freeBMD, FMP, Ancestry and Genes and, as I can find no other evidence, I am just presuming that he must be a casualty of the war who's records did not survive and therefore cannot be found :-(
