You have again put wrong mmn (Stockton) on this thread, although corrected over on the other to Coatsworth. EDIT- now changed.

Her birth certificate will give full DOB which might help to track her later

Newer replies are on the other thread, so probably best to continue on there.

You have started another thread which really isn't fair on those who have helped on the same family on this thread

Means new helpers will spend time looking for records that have been found and posted

Thank you to Kay??? I sent a request to see birth records to London Metropolitan Archives which have been received and the birth mother Sarah Annie Baker was 32 yrs at time of birth in 1919. this helps me move forward in hopefully finding any descendants. If anybody can help in finding anymore information on Sarah Annie Baker born 1886 I believe she maybe the daughter of John William Baker and Sarah E Coatsworth born in Thornaby on Tees. 1911 census living in Kensington as Servant. in 1919 when she gave birth she was living at 8 Macroom road London as a Domestic Servant. I am now looking for a possible marriage for her or where she lived from there on. thank you kind Regards Angela

Very interesting, so is it a possibility then that Sarah Annie Baker knew the Jamiesons ?

Adoption/ childcare did not run in the same way as today.

Official adoption in the UK did not begin until the 1920s and, as Vera marries in both her birth name and her chosen name, it is unlikely the adoption was official.

I am trying to contact London Metropolitan Archives to find maternity records of Sarah Annie Baker , if I can get her birth date or age will be much more helpful.

Your John is possibly the top birth- although you would need his marriage cert to confirm father's name & occupation:

I'm not sure that 1920 death is correct- that is for a John W Kirby, but your John married with no initial.

Births:

KIRBY, JOHN (Mother's maiden name: BREEKEN) (Probably Bracken)

KIRBY, JOHN WILLIAM (Mother's maiden name: HILEY )

It is likely that she was still married when she was living with William in 1918, but just took on the Jamieson surname. Lots of people did it (including my Grandparents- my gran (also my Grandad's housekeeper) eventually took on his surname even though they weren't married. (They couldn't marry as his wife was still living)

I don't see a marriage for them- and they definitely weren't married in 1918 -even thought she was listed as Jamieson on the electoral register William refers to her as the housekeeper in his military file.

hayler Report 4 Feb 2017 11:14

Austin very helpful thankyou but confusing why she is using his surname although not married which seems the case, great we have now got Jamieson first name, very helpful. The husband I had for her john kirby I have death being 1920.
Rosina death cert gives her name as Jamieson was Kirby and widower of Mr J Kirby, so does that mean she didnt marry Jamieson ?
Thank you Mary so in 1919 she wssnt staying at vicarage

hayler Report 4 Feb 2017 11:06

Ok Austin that is great information thankyou, I must have the wrong kirby that died in 1920. Strange she is on electoral roll as Jamieson, but he puts her as Rosina Kirby, not sure if they did ever marry. Her death cert states Rosina Jamieson previous Kirby and widower of mr john Kirby. Did people use their partners name although they werent married ? Strange

Mary Report 4 Feb 2017 11:01

Walter Patteson legg still at The Vicarage 1919 which seems to number 19,Macroom Road

Sarah Annie Baker at 8 Macroom Road so it would seem she had no connection to The Vicarage.

Maybe not helpful to the search, but Rosina and William Jamieson were living together before 1920. She is listed on the electoral registers as Jamieson at 41 Eve Road Isleworth in 1918.

William, also lists Rosina as his next of kin when he enlists in 1918- he refers to her as Rosina Kirby, housekeeper of 41 Eve Road.

William's wife, Amelia, died in 1913
