Not sure if this is the right place place for this info, but here goes

I have the birth certificate the the above. She is recorded under the surname Woolgar in 1917. Woolgar being her Mother, Mary D Woolgar.

However, the birth certificate I received was actually registered 22/6/1927 giving her birth as £3/10/1916 and surname of Lefivre (or something similar as its hard to see).

If anyone is researching the Woolgar and/or Lefivre family they may be interested in this information. I am happy to copy the certificate to anyone who wants it

It looks as if she was double entered on Freebmd

Births Jun 1917 (>99%)
Chapman Joan M Saunders Cranbrook 2a 1393
Curtis Norman A F Onion Cranbrook 2a 1393
James Robert O A Hughes Cranbrook 2a 1393
Lefevre Jeanne A M Woolgar Cranbrook 2a 1393 <<<
Roberts Malvina Z Maynard Cranbrook 2a 1393
Woolgar Jeanne A M Woolgar Cranbrook 2a 1393 <<<

She also entered as Jeannne A M Lefevre in 1916!

JEANNE A M
Last name LEFEVRE
Birth year 1916
Birth quarter 4
Mother's last name Woolgar
District Cranbrook
County Kent
Country England
Volume 2A
Page 1524

The image against the 1917 Lefevre entry has her name handwritten at the bottom.
Correct District and Vol number then 'See S'r7' for the page number. Note - the r may be something else.
It does suggest that Jeanne underwent a name change in 1927, either removing then re-adding her biological father's name or being adopted by a Lefevre

If she isn't part of your family, try searching all members trees under both surnames. If listed, contact the tree owners. You could also add a Post'em on Freebmd against both entries, giving details from the BC.

The handwritten entry under Lefevre in 1917 actually says "see S'27" which means "see September 1927" where the birth is registered again. This has been done to legitimise her birth after her parents married.

The legitimacy act came into force in England in 1926.

Gerry ............

the re-registered certificate in 1927 is the only one that will be issued now, as it supercedes the original certificate.
