Stamford Mercury - Friday 12 October 1906

Stephen Grey, labourer of East Halton was summoned for assaulting Harriet Haste, of Grimsby, his housekeeper on September 24th. From complainants evidence and that of her daughter, defendant on said day was drunk and asked Mrs Haste to fetch a pint of milk, addressing her as 'my pet'. Complainant remonstrated with him, and he then advanced towards her, twisting her nose, knocking her down and kicking her... Defendant was sworn and and said both he and the complainant were drunk, and because he addressed the complainant's daughter as 'my'pet' the mother rushed at him with a knife and threatened to 'cut his heart out'. -Fined £1 19s costs.
Defendant: I'm glad to get rid of her for the price.

They obviously patched things up!
