thank you for all your help,, is there any way of knowing when and where her son died? and if he married? as i was told he had a son aswell but know no more

So it looks as though Anne married after the birth of son Alan.

I suspect she had already changed her name by deedpole to Hughes before her marriage. This would also account for the 1969 amendment of Alan's birth registered as surname Hughes with maiden name Hughes.

(Just a note- the Anne Vera that died 2011 mention by Greyghost- registry was Ipswich, not Winchester)

?? Did Anne TAKE and was known by the name of Hughes and THEN marry as Hughes - otherwise this could be a big coincidence -

Alan J Barrett born 1964 mmn Hughes or Barrett - this entry has Ilford as RD of birth

Alan J Hughes born 1964 mmn Hughes or Barrett - this entry has been changed from Ilford to Redbridge as the RD of birth with M69 handwritten by the entry, indicating a change made to the details in the March Quarter 1969

If you then ask to search 1969 births this comes up -
Alan John Hughes Q1 1969 Redbridge mmn Hughes

Do you know what the initial V stands for in Anne's name?

Looking for deaths post 2016 when the commercial sites stop listing them it's possible to use the free site
https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk - to see if probate was granted and so find a death that way. You can purchase a copy of a will through the site.

there are probate grants for -
Anne Valerie Curtis d 2015 granted Winchester 2015
Anne Vera Curtis d 2011 granted Ipswich 2011 (EDITED)

These may NOT be your Anne of course. (Where probate was granted has no relation to where a person lived/died and ER's may not have been altered immediately or opted out of prior to the event).

There are a number for Alan John Hughes' between 2006 and 2016

Both Anne and Martin are on the electoral roll in Colchester to 2013

Maybe after she passed he moved away

It may be that Anne was not married to Mr Hughes.

Son Alan born in 1964 is registered under surname Barrett and Hughes- there is an amendment to his birth place added in 1969.

Please can you help me make sence of this
Anne V Barrett born 1942 ish had a child i knew as Alan born around 1964 think his surname was Hughes, but i can not find marriage, they lived in ilford ,,,,,Anne went on to marry Martin Curtis they lived in Colchester, the last i heard she and her son have both died not sure when but Ann was about 2014 early ,,,can any one help me with this, thanking you all in advance xxx
