Civil Registration didn't begin until 1837 so before this date all you can hope for is a baptism record - however I can't see one on Findmypast.

Durham County Records office may be able to help if you know which church is nearest to where they lived.

He was married 1850 and his father named as John

On marriage cert. Robert is a coal miner, address Harton Colliery, father John Pinkney, coal miner.
Jane Telford address ditto Harton Colliery, father John Telford coal miner.
married at Holy Trinity Church, South Shields, Durham
Wittnesses...William Rutter and Sarah Rutter

Born about 1825 in Durham. Cant find his birth although the various census's say born Tudhoe, Durham and one says Fullwell
