I don't see it either John.

The male birth for the same qtr and for Sarah E are listed on the GRO, but can't see the female birth:

WOOD, SARAH ELIZABETH (Mother's maiden name: CLOUT )

There's a male too on page 411

These births were often recorded for a child that was born alive but died soon after and not given a Christian name

Any ideas why it would not show in the GRO?

Don't know John-

grasping at straws here- but did notice these females also listed,
Births Dec 1842
Clark Female Sevenoaks 5 417
Jones Female Sevenoaks 5 417

EDIT- doh, ignore me, thought I couldn't find these in the GRO but then realised I was searching deaths!

I expect errors/omissions can be made on the GRO site as well as any other.

Not that it helps you today, but (if you don't know already) there is a facility to report the missing entry on the GRO site and a box to complete "reason record assumed missing" where you could site the freebmd entry. Updates they say are made on a weekly basis.

Thanks I will report it and when they include it, hopefully it will show the mothers maiden name.
