all i got on her is the marriage to George Walter Sturley and yes they died the same day, i had tried free bmd, find my past and family search for her birth but came up with nothing

I have followed up on Violet May Tester 1927 and there is no record of her that I can find after 1927 or her mum.

Mother Mary Ann Tester born Newport 1887 to Frederick Tester 1862 London died 1936 Newport and Emma Tripp 1864 -1891 Newport.

He married Sarah Ann Hurley born @ 1879 married 1913.She was daughter of Sarah Tripp 1848 sister to Emma Tripp.

So could this be her and adopted by the Fennell family??

Rule out Edna M - she married a Gordon Young and died in IOW

The only Violet May born in Newport at the right time was Tester (there is also an entry for Lester same ref)

We need Shirley to come back and say whether she knows Violet's parents' names...and whether she named a father on her marriage certificate.

Well they haven't picked up George's death this looks Iike his family although mum is down as Phyllis maybe a derivative of her second name of Philippa

Two older sisters who must have married by 1939

Born in 1927 she could have been adopted as that's when official adoption started

You may have better luck finding info if you have her father's name from the mariage cert..You may then find the family on the 1939 register

there are 2 marriages in 1953

There is definitely no birth to match in Newport, Monmouthshire. There are several Fennel births with mmn Nicholas, Fogwill, Thomas, O'Brien and Counsell. But no Violet. There is an Edna M in December 1927 (mmn Nicholas)

Was there a previous thread somewhere, as the name Violet m Fennell sounds familiar? ( edit yes another site I think, I looked for the probate record).

This is on https://www.myheritage.com/names/george_sturley so it looks like it is the correct people.

Violet was born Circa August 12 1927, in NEWPORT Gwent Wales.
They had 3 children: Thomas Sturley and 2 other children.
George passed away on month day 1986, at age 63 at death place.

a tree he was born 14/3/1922 mum Edwards but on Ancestry.co.uk birth reg says it was 1923!!

Violet Mary Sturley of Hall Cottage died 21/12/1985 probate 24/9/1986.

too children born ot marriage in 1956 and 1958 have mmn as fennell

I guess we'll just have to wait for Shirley to get back and clarify what she does know about Violet. :-) :-)
