	Having relooked at ancestry again and again I have found a William Franklin married to an Elizabeth Unknown - as yet. I have a daughter Mary born 1777 (who went on to marry Isaac Niblett) so possibly not a first child. I would be interested in finding Elizabeth's surname and verifying other children to know I am going off in the right direction. Many thanks

	where are you finding this information??? From a Family Tree on ancestry??? or from the Births Marriages and Death records?

	I use the records provided. I never copy and if I do I always check were possible for sources. Much of the information is on familysearch which I also use

	I cannot find a birth for a Mary Franklin with parents William and Elizabeth in the parish records section of ancestry nor on Family Seach

Member Since: July 2005 Posts: 12,337 Send Message	I'm only finding a marriage for a William Franklin and Elizabeth Fowler 30 Apr 1738 which is surely far too early for a 1777 birth? Of course they may not have married in Minchinhampton. I also can't find any evidence of a Mary Franklin with William and Elizabeth as parents.

Isaac Niblett - Mary Franklin married 8/9/1798 I found an entry for Isaac Niblett and Mary Franklin, both of Minchinhampton, married by banns on 8th September 1798. Both the bride and the groom made their marks in the register. There were two witnesses, John Franklin and Samuel Keene who signed the register. Unfortunately, as is normal as this date, no further details such as status or age or occupations of the couple, or the names and occupations of the fathers are included. It is most likely that the witness, John Franklin, is perhaps the father, uncle, brother or cousin of Mary but there can be no guarantee of this.
