If you look at Catterick Camp on Google Maps, the main roads are all named, but none of the smaller ones. Also there is a limit as to how big you can make it and there is no Street View.

However, there is a Helles Barracks, on an un-named road, which could be Helles Lane.

Without a father (husband) she wouldn't be in Married Quarters, so if that is where the baby was born it sounds as though he might have arrived unexpectedly, while she was at work. :-0

Its a lady who had come back from Canada in 1925 with 3 children she went on to
have another child [no father] in 1929 who is still alive -- which is why I am a little reluctant to give names.

she remarried with the surname of Stevens as a widow -- which we believe was
untrue - as it was not the surname she came back with from Canada

the child was not reg. under Stevens but was brought up believing that Stevens was their surname.

have been trying to find her on electoral rolls but Yorkshire not available on line

her employment was as a cook presume Catterick camp ??

she was back in her home county of Surrey in 1931 for remarriage -- want to try and find her from 1925 to1930

I was just hope that someone may have an idea to what the lane may have
been

Can you give some full names so we can try and find the family on the record?

Perhaps the old workhouse building- referred to as Richmond House:

Workhouse, Richmond, North Riding of Yorkshire

After 1930, running of the workhouse was taken over by the North Riding County Council and Richmond House was used as a Public Assistance Institution, still catering for the elderly, the chronic sick, single mothers etc. In 1961, it became a hostel for old people, then in 1968, the old building was largely replaced to provide accommodation for a new old people's home. The site is now occupied by modern housing.

Do you mean her surname was Cook?

It appears that none of the properties within the camp were named by road- just Precinct of Catterick Camp.

Trying to help a friend find the birthplace of a relative born 1929

I am trying to locate the address in the 1939 index but I am being told the
address dosnt exist so do I have a wrong spelling ???

this is thought to be place of birth
49 Richmond House ,Richmond. -- no actual road.

this thought to be address of mother a Cook -- looked for this address
50 Hoellis [?] Lane[s] Catterick camp, Scotton, Yorkshire

does anyone have knowledge of this area to help ??
