Women are indexed on the 1939 Register under their married name with the maiden name in brackets if they married after 1939 but before they stopped updating the Register (in ca 1991)

so that is why she is showing as Hallihan

Frances was female (despite it saying Male on the 1939 transcription):

death:

First name(s) FRANCES MARGARET
Last name HALLIHAN
Gender Female
Birth date 18th October 1920
Death quarter 2
Death year 1982
District Newham
County Essex
Volume 15 Page 1563
-----------------------------------------------

Oddly, it looks as though she married under the name Florence:

First name(s) FLORENCE M
Last name MARTINSON
Marriage quarter 2
Marriage year 1945
Spouse: George W Hallihan
District West Ham
County Essex
Volume 4A Page 124
-----------------------------------

If you need anything else looking up, just shout.

I've just altered it slightly as on the original there are no closed records.

So I've added Ann- difficult to tell what her surname was originally (Gard or Gand?), but it's crossed through with Martinson written over.

EDIT: Ann's surname was originally Gard

Marriage:
First name(s) ANNE C
Last name GARD
Marriage quarter 1
Marriage year 1940
Spouse: William C Martinson
District West Ham
County Essex
