	Thanks both to Abby and Choccy. I hadn't thought of using Sutherby as an alternative name, even though I tapped in Name variants as part of the search. i guess the age of 30 for both Thomas and Jane comes from the "rounding" used on the 1841 census (ages rounded up or down to become 30, 35 etc). The census also shows more children than I originally thought ; and either Robert aged 6 is in 2 places at the same time, or there are actually 2 Robert Suddabys in the village - I need to research this more. For information Elizabeth aged 11 in 1851 is Ann (Elizabeth) aged 1 1841 so this is the right family. Great detective work. :-D

	Dear helpers! I am unable to find my stepdad's ancestor in the 1841 census. Thomas SUDDABY'S son Robert (born 1836 North Cave, Yorkshire) is shown in the 1841 census aged 5 with supposedly his grandparents Robert and Mary SUDDABY in Eastrington which is where the family resided in 1851. There is some confusion between Eastrington and Easington (both in East Riding of Yorkshire but a fair distant apart). Is anyone able to locate Thomas SUDDABY (maybe SUDABY) born 1807 with his wife Jane born 1808 Barmby on the Marsh in the 1841 census please? For info, Thomas was a platelayer for the railway and may have been away working at the time of the census. Many thanks for any help. Michelle.
