No Sue, - on the 1841 'born in County' usually means just that and you should be able to rely upon it, though no info on any census can be totally without doubt as it depended on whether the people answering the questions actually told the 'whole truth' and the accuracy of those who wrote the answers down.

greyghost,

Yes, I see.!! Suppose on the 1841 census, being born in the county is also questionable. !!

Being "of the same parish" at time of marriage, doesn't necessarily mean that he was born there unfortunately. It would be too easy !

Thanks Catherine but it looks like it. Sue

If the other George Whittell was born Bremhill, then my baptism looks to be for him. Shame!

Sue

Sue Report 28 Jun 2017 21:41

Have just had a look on Ancestry, and I think it is the George Whittle, born Bremhill in 1807, that died in 1852,. Also that George married a Rosanna Bristow. That would explain the presence of visitor George Bristow. in the 1851 census.

This is a difficult one and as I said, I have been looking for years. :-D Sue

Thank you to Catherine and Alviegal.

Yes that 1841 census is the one. George definitely died in 1847. His wife Ann died in 1840/41 off the top of my head with their last daughter Caroline.

In 1851 the family was split with the two boys lodging with a Sarah Woodman of Kington St. Michael, and the girls in various service positions.

many thanks for your reply I had seen that record, but was put of by the baptism date; of 1807. There is another record underneath giving the date as 1803.

Also the fact that the marriage to Mary Vines, states both were of Christian Malford.

Not sure what to think. Sue

Possible death for that George safc. He seems to have married a Roseanna Bristow in 1833.

I have been looking for ages for the birth and parents of the above.

George Whittle, born circa 1803. He married Mary Vines, in 1824 in Christian Malford, Wilts, and it states he is from same.
Unfortunately Mary Vines died, in 1827, also their child died 1825.

George re married Ann Heath, in 1828, in Malmesbury, George being a Widower.

1841 census Kington St. Michael, Wilts., George is shown with his second family. Kinsman, Jane,, , William Ann, John and Caroline. As George died in 1847 in Kington ST Michael, there is nothing more to go on.

Even with new records on Ancestry for Wiltshire, no luck.

If anyone could help, would be v. grateful.

Sue
