Looks as if its the close its going to be for a 1911 address. I'll certainly ponder about sending for the cert. Lets pay off the holiday first ;-)

Elizabeth Louisa Charlish Probate entry in 1942 does strongly indicate that sister Florence married Mr Hughes.

Just for ref as i was trying to find her in 1911 to see if Florence was with her. Elizabeth baptised same date as Florence ( DET I'm sure you noticed that the baptisms on same page were another Charlish family)

could that 21 on GRO actually be 21 months????


Remember the GRO Index is still trying to sort out how to distinguish between months and years for children ...... one has to guess whether 6 = 6 months or 6 years.

I THINK 21 months MIGHT have been put on the original Index used on Freebmd as 1 year?????

Herbert's birth cert could also be useful as it should at least give an address for 1911:

As the other children were reg in different districts, it's obvious they moved around.

I'm wondering if Florence was co-habiting with someone else & using his surname particularly as she appears to have another Pascoe child in 1914. Might it be worth looking for a ???/Charlish birth, just in case?

I did wonder about new or mangled surname, and tried looking for child with mother Florence, without any surname. nada


I did not try looking for initials only.


I tried looking at workhouses ................ there was a Florence Pascoe with a Herbert in a London workhouse just before the time of her marriage in 1920 BUT that Florence was around 10 years too young and Herbert was shown as an infant ................ when he would have been 9 or 10 years old, so I disregarded it.
