This is the most obvious death for a John Whitmore in 1896, but that would make him of similar age to his 'daughter'
Deaths Mar 1896
Whitmore John 77 Woolwich 1d 771
i.e. born 1818/1819.

Welcome to genesreunited, Geraldine.

Do you want help with your Whitmore family, or do you believe there is a connection with Ernest and Jane?

We have a John Whitmore, died 1896 and his daughter(my Great great grandmother), Sarah Whitmore, born 30.03.1823 or possibly 06.04.1823, died March 1911. This is a work in progress - these dates have been gathered from family artefacts and not yet verified.

Bev Report 13 Jul 2017 03:31

I'm currently researching my Whitmore ancestors and have been given anecdotal evidence that there was a court case between my Great Grandfather, Ernest Whitmore & his wife Jane (nee Billington). Jane died in 1920 so I am assuming this was between 1915 and 1920.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the court records or know of any newspaper reporting on the case? :-)
