Could anyone help me with a search please.

I am looking for children of -

Joannes (John/James) Tobias Conway (b1788 - d1819) married Maria Pike (b c1797 - d1867 in 1810 - she re-married a George Patrick in 1823)

I think they had a daughter Elizabeth Ann (b Woolwich 1815) but I have not been able to find other children for them. It seems they were married 5 years before they had Elizabeth, so I'm thinking there must have been other children?

Can't see the birth of Elizabeth, I'm afraid, let alone any other children.

I have a copy of a marriage certificate someone gave me from an online site for Elizabeth Ann Conway marrying James W Bean in 1842 that says her father was John Tobias Conway (deceased) but I have not been able to find a connection between them.

I have wondered if she could be Maria's daughter not John Tobias's but they had been married 5 years when she was born (according to info on later censuses for Elizabeth Bean - giving her birth year) ???

But still can't see Elizabeth's birth, unfortunately.

Thank you ArgyllGran, it just doesn't make sense.

Someone suggested to me, could John Tobias or Maria have had Elizabeth as the result of an affair, could he have had a bigamous marriage somewhere or could they have taken her in as there doesn't seem to be any children from their marriage which is unusual for this time. I don't know how you would find any of this out though! :-S

He died at 31, which even for these times I think is young, but I wonder what he died of and whether it may have helped to know......some way to solve the puzzle. I don't think there's a way of finding out though, only Parish records at the time.

Yes I have some of this information, but have never been able to find a birth entry for Elizabeth, which although she names John Tobias as her father on her marriage certificate, makes me question if her parents were John and Maria and was she born Elizabeth Ann Conway. The rest of the information is correct, she did marry James Bean, she is my 4th great grandma, so I know all the information that you have here is right from the Beans.

Chris didn't they make a television drama based on the story of Sarah Dazley earlier in the year? Wow, be interesting if Melvin was related!

(can't say I remember that, would certainly be interesting, am sure us lot on here would be on the case!, lol, think we've uncovered most things!)
