I had a step uncle called John A Jones born 1924 killed in WW11 Just looked on the 1939 census and his name is closed is their any way of getting the info with out filling in the forms
As he died just before I was born I don't know much about him not sure what the A stands for my mother always said he was killed on his 21st birthday?
If some one can get any more info than I have it would be appreciated
his parents were Sydney and Catherine Jones 1939 they lived at 59 Panfield Road Woodhouse Park Wythenshawe Manchester. John was born in Chorlton Manchester

Thank you

This is the only John A. Jones I can find on the Commonwealth War Graves site who died aged 20 at around the right time:-

JONES, John Albert

Rank:Private
Service No:14337310
Date of Death:16/04/1944
Age:20
Regiment/Service:Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment 2nd Bn.
Grave Reference: XIV. D. 5.
Cemetery:CASSINO WAR CEMETERY

I think you need his death certificate in order to get a "closed" record on the 1939 register opened.

Good find Chris. Seems he died on his 20th birthday rather than his 21st.
