I have a birth certificate for John Cunningham bn 13/02/1888, Dowlais Glam, son to Ellen formerly welsh, who registered him. His father John was deceased when he married Margaret Barry 28/06/1913. Ellen remarried Daniel Crowley in 1892, states shes widowed and her father is Thomas Walsh. Both fathers were labourers.

No, can't see a marriage- but, they weren't necessarily married (to each other!)

There are a few possible births in Ireland.

No John Cunninghams with middle name Joseph born in Scotland 1855-65.

He didn't marry in Scotland, either - just to confirm - wasn't expecting that he would.

I suspect he was born in Ireland, or possibly Scotland.

Do you any of the children's birth certificates? Do you know what John's occupation was?

I can't see his birth anywhere. There are lots of John Cunninghams, but none with middle name Joseph.

Nor their marriage.

I don't see them in censuses either, at least not in Merthyr.

Where have you found their names, please?
