Trying to trace William Connor married to my mother in law Kathleen Earl married 20/01/1940 in Lambeth they had a son, my husband Alan Connor on the marriage certificate he is 25 years old. In the royal artillery, motor van driver number 847296.
We believe he was born in Shipley Yorkshire. On the marriage certificate his father is George Edward Connor (deceased).
Would be grateful for any help.

Not seeing a death in Yorkshire for a George E Connor in Yorkshire 1915 - 1940.

Was there an occupation for George on William's marriage certificate please?

I believe a birth in Shipley would be registered in the Bradford registration district but not seeing one that would tie in.

Do you know when and where William died please?

If Kathleen lived with William it wasn't for very long- she's with her parents in 1945 (no William).

Her name isn't listed with them in 1948, but by 1949 she's back with them (no William)

PM from Susan. She doesn't know when William died. His occupation on the marriage certificate looks like Tanner or Tramcar something.

Kath did not remarry and died Dec 2015. age 94
Kath was always a bit sketchy about William. We do know she went to live in Littlehampton at some point, she said for work but then gave birth to Alan in 1948 and she said William was away on army duties and could not be traced,, she said as a messenger although that is not on the marriage a few years earlier. Also it means he must have transferred to the regular army in 1945.
