Interesting looking at the other images - so many of the Grooms were Clothiers

If this is Mary, she is said to have been born in Aberdeen on the 1851 - she certainly moved about a bit !

Have you checked out the witness to the marriage Benjamin Holmes. Could he be a relative? The other witness seems to be a church official as he is a witness to most of the marriages on the page.

Mary probably moved for work.

As father's name is not included on marriage records at that time and her birth was before civil registration, I'm not sure how you can find her parent's names.

Did Mary have a sister called Lydia? On the image of the marriage the marriage above was of a Lydia Wilkinson on 31st May 1819 and one of the witnesses to that marriage was a Benjamin Wilkinson.

EDIT - On the 1841 census she gives her birthplace as Yorkshire??

Mary Wilkinson was born in Perth Scotland in 1801 according to the 1871 census where she is shown under her married name of Mary FRANCE. She married William FRANCE in June 1819 in Mirfield, near Dewsbury, Yorkshire.

William and Mary had 9 children between 1821 and 1839.

When and why did she move from Scotland to Yorkshire? She was still a teenager when she did. Who were her parents and siblings?
