trying to find a william harris who was born around 1820-1825 in cornwall , possibly launceston, who married mary kenner buckingham in stoke demarel in 1846 , They moved to burnley in lancashire in the 1870's and wondered if anyone can find them on a census, maybe 1881 or 1891 , or even 1901. they both died in burnley in the early 1900's . i think mary died in 1907, but william died a little earlier.

maybe i found the wrong marriage for william and mary kenner buckingham then ? The ones dea posted are definately the ones but iam unable to find them on any census afterwards apart from mary living with her daughter dora gaukroger on the 1891 in burnley . :-S

Could the couple have separated and William described himself as a widower in 1901? This is the only William Harris of around the right age that I can find in Burnley and he would fit with the death in Burnley:-

I have a memoir of son george harris and he talked about the village they lived in as children . dora married titus gaukroger in burnley in the late 1870's . Just unable to find william and mARY ON the 1881. Not certain of williams death date either but mary was widowed by 1891. :-)

Not sure, but wiliam born in cornwall and was possibly dead before 1891. I have also been unable to find a death for him . born 1824 ish too so that william is a little bit younger. Not a retired soldier either i dont think . strange. mary isnt buried with him either . :-S

unable either to find mary on the 1881 . i know they still lived in burnley though due to the memoirs of george. :-(

I edited my last post about the William who was a retired soldier to say I didn't think he was "yours".

well maybe he went back home for a visit as i know they lived in burnley and went to burnley together in the 1870's as it said this in the memoirs. the only thing i can think of is that they may have briefly gone back to cornwall in the 1880's ..perhaps this is why i cant find either of them on the 1881 census for burnley ?? :-S

dea, the husband family , this would be brilliant if true as i am related also to those husbands. But dont think william and maRY had a daughter named mary and i am unable to find a marriage anywhere for a henry husband and mary nee harris. that is a shame. thanks anyway. :-( :-S :-) :-)

oops. just found one in 1868 in east stonehouse in devon to a mary harris. Unfortunately i dont think william and mary had a daughter mary . it would make sense if they had but she is not mentioned in any tree or later in the memoirs. so not sure about that one :-(
