I have found a Patrick Connell in the Gort Parish area wife is Brid. OBrien cant find a marriage as the Registers covering that time period are not transcribed /Missing....the info came from Baptisms of their children.

As Mary Turner was one of the possible 1866 brides, I wonder if this child could be theirs? (As proof of Patrick 1866's bride's name, I mean?)

They came over to England and settled in Manchester. I have him being buried back in Tuam Galway in 1918.
Presume he died in Manchester and was taken back to Ireland.

On the census I have for him it says wife M and it only gives R for the son - not very helpful.

plenty of Marys to chose from then :-(

I have been searching for his children's births, but am drawing a blank. never mind will put all the information you have found for me on file and come back to it all later.

Jan- when was Patrick born. I'm not seeing the census you mean. There is this one- but not born Ireland: Is it the census you mean?

I suspect there are mistakes in that census.
Can't find any of the children's births - at least not all with the same mms, in Manchester.
Nor in Ireland.


Apart from that:

"M" needn't be a Mary. She could be Margaret Bregan/Bergan in the 1868 marriage.

Or this could be some totally different couple!

Yes thats the one.
I have been down to Manchester Archives and had help but cant pinpoint anything. Even the Registrar checked all the births in England for Mary Ellen (who on the 1939 register says her birth date was 16 Sept 1873) but no luck. All had father with a different first name

I'm not seeing his 1918 death in Manchester. Although there is this death in Tuam 1918:

Who did Mary Ellen (born 1873) marry? James Ogley?

Patrick married again in 1908 to Clara Boulland. I have sent for the certificate. In the 1911 he is with Clara and his daughter Sarah born 1883.

I have found him in the other census, one says his wife is Ann ( could be Mary Ann and her using her middle name)

Yes she did marry James Ogley and I have all his details going way back thanks. Thats the death in 1918 - he was born in 1843/44
