Hello, i have posted before re mary Ann but wonder if there is anyone who can find out any information about her. I think Mary was born 1902, don't know exactly when. She was born in county durham. Her dad was Thomas Pickering, and her mum Susannah Thompson.

Mary was my dad's mum. He is now in his 80s. he was later adopted. I have looked backwards in Mary's tree, but this is difficult because she seems to be part of an illegitimate side of the family.

I would like to know if she married, and had children of possible. I was once told dad had two brothers. Dad has Alzheimer's, and endlessly tries to put his life in place. It would be nice to have some idea who his, our family are.

So thought I would have another try. Lynn

My post on this was 3 January 2016. Sorry don't know how to link them.

Lynn, could you please post a link to the original query ( or add this query to it) otherwise helpers will just spend time duplicating searches already done :-)

There is probate, grant and will, for a Mary Ann Black died 6th October 1998, and registry of Newcastle Upon Tyne. (Might not be her)

Worth applying for it for more information?

Nyx has linked it for you.

Why do you think it is the wrong Mary Ann?

If you got her death certificate that would have her date of death to cross-check.

Did see both of those but on other thread is this family in the 1911 cnesus:

Possibly Mary Ann's family. At least it fits that 1902 birth, as Birtley is in Chester-le-Street reg district.

It's just an observation, but at 32 Mary Ann was quite old to have not been married, or had a previous child. Just thinking that rather than having had children within the marriage to Mr Black she may have had children before that??

edit, there are a number of Pickering/Pickering births before and after Clive's in Hackney.

Thanks everyone, it looks like you have followed my thoughts. Which must be good, shows i just be doing the right things.

The reason I went for the Thomas and Susannah parents for mary is they had a daughter adelaide, who married george miller, and dad remembers visiting a family called miller. It is one of his few remaining memories. :-)

patchem Report 25 Sep 2017 21:50

Have you done/applied for an ER search to see who is living at '4 Don crescent, Chester le street, greater lumley co Durham' around 1934?

Is that memory of Adelaide marrying a Miller from when your Father was 3?
