Have just read another article and it says that although Ann was known as Mrs. Brandon and had lived with him since May, his wife and two children lived in Aberdeen and had left him about 10 years before the incident, so it looks like she was not Mrs. Brandon.

oh one article says his wife and two children were said to be living in Aberdeen

further says although Anne was referred to as Brandon, she had been living with him since may that year but it was believed she was not his wife.

She does appear to be his wife ( or partner) from the newspaper reports as one says he had " been neglecting her for months"

Do you know where Joseph came from? There are 3 Joseph Brandon births in 1913 +/- 2 years.

EDIT - The murder took place in Blackpool, so this is the most likely birth (although the age would be out by one or two years):-

Reading the article I would think that Ann was probably his wife - although I can't find a marriage so I could be wrong.

In a newspaper cutting dated 25/06/1956 there is an article stating that a
Joseph Brandon aged 43 (probably born 1913) had been murdered and Ann Brandon had been charged with his murder. Wondered if anyone could help with his birth and if he was married to Ann or if she was another kind of relative. She was living at Orchard Avenue at the time.
Thank you.
