William Martinson was born in1740 at Highwood Hexham to Robert Martinson and Margaret Lee, around 1774 his wife gave birth to a daughter Phillis who married John Dalrymple c 1805.

Phillis had already had a child Mary by William Cumming in 1800, there is no trace of her birth or the name of her mother it is thought that it may have been in the Chollerton / Simonburn area any information on Philliswouth be of help.
