James,
The marriage cert is available from Groni.

https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/search/marriage
Cost is 5 credits = £2.50

Index :
M/1853/N1/1874/1/33 Hugh Rankin Barnett 2nd September 1853
Magherafelt
M/1853/N1/1874/1/33 Mary Barnett Rankin 2nd September 1853 Magherafelt

As daughter Betty Jane was born in Magherafelt in Mar 1866 and family is in Dunbartonshire at 1871. it leaves just a 5yr window for the Ireland/Scotland move

Thanks for your help folks. Its now clear that the parents of Hugh Rankin 1829 were George (not Hugh) and Isabella. Will now have to search for their marriage.
Family of Hugh 1829 moved from Ireland to Milngavie and I now have census info. for 1871 1881 and 1891 for that family and death certs for Hugh and wife Mary. I will deal with my other thread (Barnet/Irons ) separately to save my poor brain getting confused. Thanks again for your comments.

Thanks, GL.

But now I'm confused. And not sure which thread to continue on!

James says (on this thread) that Hugh 1829's father was also named Hugh.

But the record of the marriage to Mary L Barnet says his father was George (on the other thread).

Is this the death you mean for Hugh junior?

ArgyllGran
I made a reply to above thread but mis read it, hence my initial silly response

It seems that son Hugh and wife Mary L Barnet married in Magherafelt, Derry in 1853 and moved to Old Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire.

I am guessing that James obtained both death certs ( Hugh d 1872 and Mary d 1903) which provided names of parents

Any more information, James?

Where did you find Hugh 1829? What else do you know about him? Wife? Children?

Please post the census or birth record or whatever you found him on.
