WILLIAM MILLINGTON 1703

I like hundreds of people with the Millington Surname on here seam to come to a stand still in tracing the Millington name when we hit William Millington Born 1703 Weaverham Cheshire.

No amount of searching can find his parents. Now I know some of the Cheshire Parish records were damaged and lost through fire, but there are records still avalable prior to 1703.

Has anyone managed to bridge the gap in the records?

Thanks
Tony Millington

How do you know he was born in 1703 and in Weaverham?

Even if Parish records are available they might be illegible.

Looking at ancestry trees -
1. Father Nicholas b 1653
2. Father Thomas b 1678
3. Father William b 1678

Baptisms for him vary from 1703 to 1729
all have him marrying Martha Stringer

I think the Millingtons must be hedging their bets with those trees !

One tree does actually have a Mother - but married to a Joseph Millington b 1670. Her name given as Sarah Loughton with no proof.
Another Millington tree has Nicholas 1653 married to Maria

Kath Green gives either Thomas and ? or Joseph and Sarah

So take your pick !!

Yes, you might have a marriage date and place - but how do you know - when and where he was born? If you've seen "of this parish" on any marriage records, then it doesn't mean the person was born there.

Thank you maylon. That confirms what i have already got down on my tree.

The Christing in Nottingham is not my side of the Millington history. My reletives are all from around the Northwich area in Cheshire.

Thanks SAFC. Its one line i will look at/
