Thanks for all the info.

It looks like Charles remarried. The children look right in the 1901 census.
Seems a long time between the birth of Maria in 1871 and Charles William Smith in 1885.

Thanks again.

You ask about details of Charles and Louisa's marriage, Richard.

You'll have to buy a copy of the marriage cert, which will give you their fathers' names.

Richard

Richard Report 13 Dec 2017 18:42

Can someone please help.

I'm having problem tracing the family of Charles Smith and his wife Louisa (Derby 1851)
Charles Smith married Louisa Miller in Derby in 1870 (freebmd)

In 1871 they were lodging at the home of Mary Adams

Charles Smith 22 Labourer b Derby
Louisa Smith 20 b Derby
They had the following children Maria Smith (1871 Derby), Charles William Smith (1885 Derby) and Sarah Jane Smith (1889 Derby),

Louisa died in 1893 in Derby after the birth of their last child Louisa Smith (Derby1893)

I just can't see them in the censuses of 1881 and 1891. I'm working from familysearch and wondered if any other sites have more records.

Does anyone have details of their marriage?

Thanks a lot

Richard
