I have all that info thanks, it's Mary BarrettI was interested in, I will send for the birth cert of Mary, whether there is some confusion with May and Mary i'm not sure as they were both born in 1900 each end of the year though, could be possible, she would have to have been pregnant soon after May was born!

It appears she was a very loose woman and in Service.

I think the father Barrett is a red herring!!

I came to the same conclusion having found the same as yourself!

Beatrice Maud was quite a woman, she was in service and had a few children out of wedlock, my mother being one of them although she had taken the name watkins as Maud married John Watkins and he died before my mother was born she was Mary Elizabeth. I never knew maud as she died in 1935, my mother did'nt have many good words for her and that's all I could get from her!!

I think this is the grand-daughter Mary - indeed Beatrice Maud's child - presumably known as Mary to distinguish between them:

Elizabeth married Albert Churms 22/10/1898 that why she not on 1901 census with Father.

Selina married James Taylor 20/01/1901.

Not seeing Mary Barrett at this time but will investigate,but, if you cannot find her i'm sure i will have problems !!

Do you know who the parents were of the granddaughter Mary who is with the family in 1901 please? Not seeing a birth registered in Shropshire for her.

Selina, Beatrice's sister married in 1902.

There was also a daughter Elizabeth although she's not with them on that 1901 census

sorry I didn't get back to you, the wife was chasing me to go out! to complete the story for you .Beatrice Maud Barrett was my Grandmother on my mothers side, she married John Watkins eventually, my mother was born after John Watkins died, still do not know who the father was as was a couple of my aunts/uncles, sadly my mother is dead and taken all the gaudy secrets to her grave, I could not get anything from her!
That was why I was enquireing about Ethel as she has only come to light. So as you say will have to send for birth cert to confirm.
Lizzie Barrett I wil also check on. The Pickens Court Barretts are my relations. My mother married James Wood in 1945 all my family live in the Shrewsbury area,whereas I'm down South since I was 9, but that is another story.

No mother's maiden surname given on the GRO index so it looks like an illegitimate birth. I think you would need to buy the certificate to find the mother's name.
