Would have thought there was something in Workhouse Admissions...

Oh my I wish I knew where to look for all this information, not sure I want to see this so publicly lol but I do appreciate your help Chris. Had a look on 1891 census for the workhouse and she wasn't there so am wondering if she spent a long time in gaol

05 January 1872 - Nottingham Journal - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire,

BELPER PETTY SESSIONS.
Tuesday - (Before G. H. Strutt, Esq.) Eliza Sutcliffe, a bad-countenanced young woman, was brought up in custody, charged by Mr. Anderson, master of the Belper Workhouse, with having run away from the Workhouse on Christmas day, and taking with her a suit of clothes belonging to the Guardians. The prisoner was taken into custody at 3 o' clock on Monday morning, with the clothes in her possession. She admitted the charge, and said she did not mean to go in the workhouse again, she would wear her finger ends off, for she had to go in the workhouse, and she might as well work out. Mr Anderson gave the prisoner a very bad character, and also proved a previous conviction against her for damaging the property of the Guardians.
The magistrate sent her to Derby gaol for two months, with hard labour.

Eliza Sutcliffe was charged with wandering abroad in Walker-lane without having any visible means of subsistence. Prisoner belongs to Alfreton, and has recently come out of gaol for neglecting her children, and leaving them chargeable to the Belper Union. She was discharged on promising to go to a situation which had been offered to her.

Thanks for that ArgyllGran the death would tie in with not being able to find a marriage but if this is her death she should be on the censuses and I can't find her on any after 1871 nor a birth for Ellen.

Ancestry suggests this is her death, but I haven't investigated that:

Hi I am trying to find any information on Eliza Sutcliffe daughter of Stephen Sutcliffe and Mary Bacon of Alfreton Derbyshire. I have her on the 1851 and 1861 census correctly. I then found an Eliza Sutcliffe aged 26 and Ellen Sutcliffe aged 4 in the workhouse on the 1871 census but can find nothing else about either of them from then on. I am assuming Ellen is her daughter but am not sure if this is my ancestor. Any help appreciated.
