I don't see any mention of Edmund

Strange how several trees on Ancestry have the wrong place and date of death- but no evidence attached. I wonder where the information came from? It certainly doesn't add up with any of the information found.

It looks as if there may have been some confusion between when he died (31 Dec 1925), and perhaps when his death was registered - 2/1/1926 ???

It's too unusual a name, combined with year of birth, for him not to be your Edmund.
Also the Portsmouth / navy connection.

The death registration posted by Maddie does state 4th quarter 1925- which doesn't fit with a January 1925 death.
