I am certain that it is the 1892 one. I am thinking that they got confused and put Stephen as the middle name because the son was Thomas William Stephen, but they were definitely living in St John's road in the 1891 and he was then aged 71.

Thank you so much for all your work on this. I stopped belonging to FMP etc about 5/6 years ago when I gave up looking having been doing my tree since I was in my 30s. All of a sudden on a Portsmouth nostalgia group on FB the name Thomas Martin came up as a request, It wasn't mine but sparked off my interest again. There is so much more available now than when i was last looking. I did manage to get into Family search (even the procedure for that has all changed) and found the censuses ok. then my PC started playing up and I was trying to access things on my Ipad, not so easy. It certainly hurts my 77 year old brain. And I had forgotten Free BMD as well. Will remember that now when looking further.

I have a query on something that was kindly found which I can't solve. A death date was found for THOMAS MARTIN of 1906 aged 84 . the age more or less tallies, therefore I should be able to find him on the 1901 but I can't. I can find his wife Charlotte (I am 99% sure it is her), at age 78 living as a boarder, name of family she is living with is not familiar to me but she is in the right residential area and the right age ( DOB 1824 aged 78 on census)

I can't now find a death for THOMAS (WILLIAM) MARTIN. Can anyone advise please. I have been looking on Family search.

Hi not often I come on this board but have just seen something on a Facebook group that I belong to that has awakened an interest in an ancestor that I have been stuck with. I have a copy of the 1851 on CD but have obviously not accessed it on this PC as it fails to open and says I am ‘not compatible’.
Would somebody please do me a favour and look up the following for me
THOMAS MARTIN BORN C 1820 should be living in Hampshire in 1851 either in Portsmouth or Gosport (but I don’t think he was Hampshire born. His occupation was cooper and his wife was Charlotte
I have no birth details for him or any other census details.
