Searching for Birth record of Harry King c1894

I have been searching online for Birth Record of Harry King my Great Uncle. According to 1901 English Census and 1911 Scottish Census he was born circa 1894 in Rotherhithe. I have traced and have copies of Birth Certificates for his 3 brothers Charles, Harold Edward, and my Grand Father John George plus 2 sisters born 8 years apart who have the same names Elizabeth Martha. The first Elizabeth Martha died 1891. I have searched the General register Office website for all males and females in England with the surname KING and with mother's surname STENHOUSE from 1890-1902. It only returns the information for the children I have details for. No Harry or derivative of that name. I have also searched without his mothers surname but restricted the search to St Olave where all the other births were registered. As Mary STENHOUSE was Scottish and returned to Scotland and remarried in 1905 after her husband Edward John King died in 1902 I have searched Scotland's People in case she had travelled to Scotland circa 1894 and gave birth to Harry there. Nothing, likewise I have search the NI register and nothing there either.
I know Harry did exist as I have a photo of him and know he joined The Black Watch Royal Highlanders prior to WW1 and he died in the Somme 25th September 1916.
I am at a loss now and wondered if anyone has any idea where I should search next.
Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for your responses GlassgowLass and Catherine.
I don’t mean to sound ungrateful but I already have all the information and press clippings you refer to in you posts but thanks anyway for your input. I live in Kirkcaldy and have access to FFP archive at the library. The photo is also mine from an original photo taken with his brother Charles written on the back “Somewhere in France May 1916” signed by Harry and Charles.
With regards to Henry King born in St Olave 1894 1d 286 the mother’s surname is incorrect. I have thought about applying for this certificate just in case it has been transcribed incorrectly.
I appreciate your help.

You can ask GRO to search for a birth registration - use name and mmn. They will look for the year you ask for - (e.g. put 01/01/1894) and 1 year either side. This is not available at the £6 pdf price, but full price only. If nothing is found you will get a refund.

mother's maiden name is wrong???????????????

where were Edward John and Mary Whyte Stenhouse married?

Do you have their marriage certificate.

Is it possible that

a) Mary had been married before

or

b) Harry was the illegitimate child of Edward John and another woman who was raised by Mary?

I suspect that the birth info is more likely to be an error in transcription or another, unrelated child

The parents married in Edinburgh 1887 which rules out a birth from a previous marriage

Brian Report 10 Jan 2018 11:11

Yes, Harry’s parents Edward and Mary were married in Edinburgh 1887. It was a fragment of the original certificate that I got from my Dad which he had in my Grandfather John George’s effects some 15 years which started me on the genealogy trail.
Mary Stenhouse was not married previously but she was an illegitimate child so I have used her mother’s maiden name in my searches. As it happens her mother married her father after Mary was born.
I have applied to GRO giving the information I have so we shall see what comes back if anything.
