His mother was a spinster when she had him baptized.
And John did not name a father when he married

You can order a pdf version of his birth cert from the GRO for only £6
1851 D quarter Bradford & North Bierley Vol 23 Page 112
That should tell you his parents, but I notice that there is no mention of the maiden name of his mother.

The GRO site now has the maiden names of all the mothers on the birth records and the age on the death rcords.

The pdf version is still on trial for another 3 months and only costs £6 instead of the £9.25 for a paper version

tried to find a marriage for sara btn 1851 and 1861 without success :-)

Can't find him so far, I'm afraid.
Have also looked for him under another surname, if Sarah married, but no luck.

The first census i find him in for certain is 1881 married and living at Church Lane in Pudsey.
